My name is Kate Grady and I have been working as an intern with Outward Bound for the past 2 months. I am currently finishing my third year at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. My studies are focused on Communications and Psychology, my passion lying in the marketing field.

My name is Hannah Hawkes and I have been interning with Outward Bound for the past 3 months. I am from England and graduated from Birmingham University in July 2009. I am really interested in a pursuing a career in advertising and marketing.

There were a number of nominations with all submissions revealing exceptional instances of leadership, accountability, professionalism and service delivery-so much so that we were unable to settle on just one individual.

This is Tim from Australia, I was a volunteer last year with Outward Bound and we went on the foosball quest and then played ultimate Frisbee at Plettenberg Bay with Rose, Maria, Flip and Tom.

We have launched a new initiative at the beginning of Staff Training Week this August to recognise and reward our staff for safe guarding the principles & integrity of Outward Bound and for exceeding expectations.

On Saturday the 15th August instructors and managers gathered at Upendi , our operational base in Sedgefield Wilderness for staff training week.

My name is Dani Walters and I spontaneously decided to intern in South Africa for three months of my summer. I currently study English and History at Birmingham University in the UK, however, my passion lies in events management and marketing. I have fallen in love with the country very quickly. What a beautiful place to get some work and life experience!

An Outward Experience: Outward Bound Internship, January – June 2009
After having spent 6 months at Outward Bound South Africa in, I think it’s fair to say that I’m ready to go home. However, my experiences in Cape Town have been enjoyable, interesting, useful, and above all, memorable. I expect that what I have learned will serve me well as I look to build a career in the non-profit sector.

My name is James Radford, I’ve joined Outward Bound here in South Africa from Birmingham in the UK, on a 6 month internship. I’m working with David in the Western Cape, and loving my time in SA so far!

4 courses ran at WP from December 2008 to January 2009 with a total number of 143 students. All 4 courses ran very smoothly and the clients left satisfied with the programmes presented.

Safety is the backbone of our operation and is ingrained in the culture at Outward Bound. World class safety standards with regular international audits On an Outward Bound course participants may find themselves hiking, camping, kayaking, rock climbing, abseiling, canoeing, sailing and doing various other group activities.
