2008 was a successful & exciting year for Outward Bound.

Murray and Roberts has continued it’s support with major sponsor and various programmes were run for disadvantaged youth from various street shelters in both Gauteng and the Western Cape. This year we are hoping to expand this programme to include the Eastern Cape and possibly the Ellisus district.

‘My experience at camp was very exciting…they treated us as their own children, even when we felt bad they would comfort us. This camp was a good influence because it is all about knowing each other, working a s a team and listening to each other to succeed…When I came here I knew nothing but when I went back home I carried something with me. I would like to come back here.’

“It was good to camp with Outward Bound although we were waking up early in the morning & working hard, but we’ve earned some fitness & it was fun sleeping outside in the bushes. This program demonstrated the extraordinary commitment of three separate organisations operating in the diverse communities of Stellenbosch, Franschoek & Khayeltisha.The Kusasa, Project, and Anna Foundation & Teach to Fish work with disadvantaged youth to promote literacy & numeracy. They attempt to stimulate aspirations in youth through developing academic, sporting &social skills.

Thanks to a generous sponsorship by Vuka Scuta , the Outward Bound Trust of South Africa was given the opportunity of implementing one of our innovative new programs.

Safety is the backbone of our operation and is ingrained in the culture at Outward Bound. World class safety standards with regular international audits On an Outward Bound course participants may find themselves hiking, camping, kayaking, rock climbing, abseiling, canoeing, sailing and doing various other group activities.

To deliver quality experiential education programs for The Outward Bound Trust of South Africa to diverse range of participants. This requires flexibility from instructors to operate in various locations throughout South Africa

The role & responsibilies of an instructor is broad and varied. It fluctuates & changes with the type of course, nature and age of the participants and the stage of the course.
