‘I’ve learned to stay without my mother and work in a group and have respect for other people and how to look after myself. And I learned how to cook for myself. I enjoyed the mountains and rock climbing. And sleeping in the tent with my friends. I can use my new skills at school when we have activities for the school. I can use that ideas from the games at the camp. I would definitely go again because I really enjoyed myself.’ Rachel Msindeni

Hazeldene Primary School Experience Letters: Friday 6th November – Tuesday 10th November 2009

‘I’ve learned to put a tent, I have learned that for everything wrong you do there’s a punishment and I have learned that for every action there is a consequence. I was sad that we couldn’t complete all activities because of the rain. I would have liked to experience new tasks. I felt like carrying a mountain on my back but I also knew that something new would come from that and I must say: I have some muscles. Now when my mom puts me out of the house I can just put up a tent for me in the back yard. If I get an opportunity to come again, I will come. It was fun and very exciting. And Outward Bound has got some very pretty women.’ Patrick Dyers

Atlantis Community Project:Sunday 25th October-Saturday 31st October

‘I am not a person who can adapt easy, but I felt at ‘home’ the first day at camp. I am a very stubborn person and to experience that you can survive without all my gadgets meant the world to me. Being at camp has changed my view on life and what is really important. What I’ve learned is that you can achieve anything with hard work and utmost dedication and that only a winner stands up and makes something better of that failure.’ Wayne Mafuto

‘Basically to me, Outward Bound was a great experience. I learnt a whole lot of things like pitching up a tent, hiking, climbing the Jacob’s Ladder and riding boats. And Outward Bound’s slogan is true because I never knew that I would walk long distances on the beach and sleep on a thin mattress but it was a great privilege. Its true we are all better than we know, they must keep up their good work and treat other groups just like they treated us.’ Duduzile Dumana
