An authentic adventure is seen as a journey, both physical and metaphorical, during which participants gain new insights and experiences while working with others in a close group under the guidance of a skilled instructor. The adventure is real and immersed in a natural environment, exposing participants to a high degree of uncertainty and challenge. When combined with the deliberate learning process, participants’ development will be at the highest level. Participants can reflect on the skills, attitudes and insights that helped them on their Outward Bound journey and how these will help them in the future.
