This course is designed for different age groups from 10 years of age. The course will be journey based and the participants will the given all the necessary gear and equipment to survive in the outdoors. They will navigate themselves from point A to B, using the skills they will be taught. During this time they will be relying on themselves and their team-mates to get them safely to their camps for the evening. The course will push the participants out of their comfort zones by challenging them through various activities. The course will take them on a journey of self discovery where they will learn about their strengths, weaknesses and their ability to overcome obstacles.

They will learn the different leadership styles and the qualities of a good leader through practical experiences. Each participant will be given the opportunity to lead in a certain activity and receive constructive feedback on what they did well and what they need to improve on in order to be good leaders in the future.

They will be taught map work and navigation and will learn the importance of planning, decision making, considering consequences and taking responsibility. During the course the participants will be supervised 24/7 by our trained and qualified staff.

Confidence will be built in all the participants as they push themselves to complete a number of different high rope activities as well as abseiling and rock climbing. These activities are an opportunity to face ones fears and trust others to assist and motivate during difficult times.

They will also work together to build a raft, providing a collective feeling of accomplishment. They will enjoy paddling their self-build raft together as they splash each other and laugh together on the water. The course is very impactful as the participants finish on a high note with a sense of achievement, self-confidence and pride.

The most impactful aspect of all Outward Bound courses is the time participants are asked to remain completely alone in nature. This is a great time for young people to reflect on aspects of themselves they would like to improve upon. During this time participants create their own private shelter and spend at least one night by themselves. They are encouraged to journal during this time of independence and solitude. This is a personal challenge of introspection that matures participants and concretes the growth they have experienced while on course.

The programme is designed to grow a feeling of personal responsibility to look after ones community and environment. This time will be spent removing alien plants from the nearby nature reserve. They will be informed on the natural habitat they are working with and how the work they do will improve their environment and the animals that live there.

Living out in nature for this duration is a unique and humbling experience for the participants. They will carry everything they need to survive for the course as they hike, canoe, kayak and rock climb there was through the outdoors. This exploration is life changing and builds a feeling of independence and confidence in the participants.
